Giant Strawberry Frosted Hand Pie Pastry

These large hand pies are an extra large, grown-up version of the kid-friendly toaster tarts. Sweet strawberry preserves are sandwiched between two layers of handmade buttery pie dough, which is baked until lightly browned and topped with a vanilla glaze (and I added some sprinkles, because we can’t be too grown up).  This extra large version is the equivalent of six of the smaller pastries I make – and this large version can be cut into 6 or more pieces (best to cut them so each piece has a little of the edge).

Each hand pie pastry measures 7″x10″ and weighs over 1 pound. The pastry can last for several days tightly-wrapped on the counter.
